Nokia W9 ‘Sea Ray’ Running WP7 Mango Caught on Film

We first caught a glimpse of Nokia’s first Windows Phone 7 (WP7) device back in June when none other than Nokia’s CEO, Stephen Elop himself unveiled it to the world. From the short video we knew it would be loosely based on their own N9 MeeGo running smartphone and today we have yet another video giving us a better look at the device. You can see the mystery guy giving the world a nice little tour of the device in the video below.

He first removes the W9 from a weird case which is deliberately designed to keep the identity of the phone a secret. This is necessary when testing prototypes in public places. The fact that this person was able to get his hands on such a case points to a possible Nokia employee. Here we also get a confirmation of the hardware buttons on the side. The first two appear to be the volume rocker, the third the power button. Finally we also have a dedicated camera button at the bottom like every WP7 device. We also have the mandatory three touch sensitive buttons for Back, Home and Search at the bottom.

With Nokia World scheduled for the end of October, we should definitely expect a formal unveiling of the device then, but given the development progress of the prototype piece, it seems ready for mass production so they could very well announce it sooner that we think.
