33rd Federal Judicial Academy BoG meeting held
ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said knowledge was central and essential to development and to gain knowledge from anywhere, from any source, for the improvement of the judicial and legal education standard in the country, is not a bad thing.
He was addressing 33rd meeting of the Board of Governors of the Federal Judicial Academy (FJA) held here Saturday under his chairmanship.
A number of items on the Agenda pertaining to administration, budget and finance, capacity building of the Judicial Officers, extension and enhancement of the Federal Judicial Academy as “Center of Excellence” were discussed in detail by the members of the FJA BoG in three hours long meeting.

At the outset of the meeting Chief Justice of Pakistan said that since each and every item on the agenda of the meeting was important for the achievement of long avowed goals; therefore, we must have to make decent work agenda a reality with our collective and coordinated efforts.
He said that some visible progress has to be made to convert this Federal Judicial Academy into a ‘Center of Excellence” which in the long run may turn to be a degree awarding institute in the country.
A multitude number of proposals came under discussion regarding this item of the agenda and all the Members of the FJA BoG including two Judges of the Supreme Court and Federal Secretary Finance and Registrar, Supreme Court of Pakistan, also gave their intellectual input.
Chief Justice said that projects can not be undertaken without requisite funding; however, timely releasing of required funding was also essential for that purpose.
A committee comprising all the four provincial Chief Justices was also constituted to examine various aspects of this matter under deliberation.
Regarding Service Rules for the FJA staff, one of the items on the Agenda, the Chief Justice of Pakistan emphasised that pragmatic efforts should be made to finalise the Service Rules of the Academy.
Finally, the meeting approved all the items on the Agenda and few items on the agenda were assigned to the relevant committees for exhaustive intellectual exercise.
The meeting ended on a note of thanks from the Chief justice of Pakistan to all members and others who were invited on special invitation.
On the spur of the moment DG of the Academy also tanked the Chief Justice of Pakistan and all others who attended the meeting and devoted their precious time for the meeting. -Online
