Attack carried out on chek posts in Mohmand
PESHAWAR: Dozens of Taliban militants Friday morning attacked five security check posts in tribal agency of Mohmand causing serious collateral damage. The fierce clashes left 24 militants dead and 11 security personnel martyred. Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has accepted the responsibility for the attack.
Near 150 militants attacked five check posts in Mohmand agency in the wee hours of Friday, security sources said. The security forces launched a retaliatory operation with helicopter gunships leaving 26 militants and 11 paramilitary troopers killed.
About a dozen militants and ten troopers were also wounded in the clashes, said sources. They added that the militants left the dead bodies of their accomplices and fled. The dead bodies have been taken into custody by the security forces.

Some tribal sources said that several troopers have gone missing after the incident. However, the report could not be confirmed officially and independently.
Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan accepting the responsibility of the attack has claimed that 12 security personnel were martyred in the attack and 6 dead bodies of the soldiers are in their custody while two were captured alive and they have been shifted to an undisclosed location.
TTP spokesman Sajjad Mehmand told BBC that Taliban attacked 5 check posts in Mohmand Agency and only two of their comrades were killed while 12 soldiers were killed and the dead bodies of 6 soldiers are in their custody.-Online
