Quaid Day observed with renewed pledges

KARACHI: The nation celebrated the 135th birth anniversary of the founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah with national spirit and enthusiasm on Saturday and with a pledge to sacrifice lives for sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country, besides giving equal response to enemy in case of war and making Pakistan strong and prosperous in line with the wishes and vision of father of the nation. The day was declared a public holiday in Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
The day dawned with special prayers in mosques for the soul of the great leader Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and prosperity and development of the country.
A 31-gun salute in the Federal Capital and 21-gun salutes in provincial capitals given to the Founder of Pakistan. National flag hoisted atop government and semi-government buildings.
The representatives of three services (Army, Navy and Air Force) laid floral wreaths on behalf of their respective services at the mausoleum of the Quaid in Karachi.
Number of political, social, cultural and educational organizations held programmes to mark the occasion in a befitting manner. Radio and television aired special programmes on the life, ideals and achievements of Quaid-e-Azam.

President Asif Ali Zardari visited the mausoleum of the Quaid to pay homage to the Founder of Pakistan.
He laid floral wreath, offered Fateha and recorded his impressions in the visitors’ book.
The President was accompanied by the Governor of Sindh, Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan, on the occasion.
Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, along with members of the provincial cabinet, also visited the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam, laid floral wreath and offered Fateha.
Earlier, a smartly turned out contingent of the Gentlemen Cadets of the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA), Kakul, mounted ceremonial guard at the Mazar of Quaid. The representatives of the three services also laid floral wreath and offered Fateha.
People from various walks of life visited the mausoleum of the Quaid to pay homage to the father of the nation.
Various organizations and academic and other institutions organized programmes to pay homage to the Father of the Nation.
The newspapers published special supplements and electronic channels and radio aired special programmes on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam.
Seminars and conferences organised throughout the country to highlight the services of the Quaid-e-Azam for the nation and renewing the pledge to follow Quaid’s guiding principle of “Unity, Faith and Discipline.”  In Lahore, Nazaria-e-Pakistan Trust organised a special ceremony at Alhamra Hall with the collaboration of Tehreek-e-Pakistan Workers Trust.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided while among others AJK President Zulqernain Khan, SM Zafar. Bushra Rehman, Ajmal Niazi, and Nasira Javed Iqbal also addressed the ceremony.
