5M trade deficit reaches $6.43bn

Nov exports at $1.78bn; imports at $3.13bn
KARACHI: Pakistan’s exports have surged 19 per cent to $8.95 billion during July-November 2010 as compared to the corresponding period last fiscal year, after that country’s trade deficit for the first five months of the 2010/11 fiscal year reached to $6.4 billion. According to the data compiled and released by Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), the exports during November 2010 were valued at $1.78 billion which was 17 per cent higher than the level of $1.52 billion during November, 2009.
Imports during November 2010 were valued at $3.13 billion registering a growth of 43 per cent over the level of imports valued at $2.19 billion in November, 2009.
The cumulative value of exports for the period July-November, 2010 was $ 8.95 billion as against $ 7.53 billion registering a growth of 19 per cent over the same period last year.
Cumulative value of imports for the period July-November 2010 was $ 15.38 billion as against $12.75 billion registering a growth of 21 per cent, over the same period last year.
